2021 Prototypes

In 2021, RECOVER Urban Wellbeing is supporting eight prototypes. Some of these have their origins in earlier prototypes from 2018 and 2019; others are much newer. They are all at different stages and with different focus areas. They all have yielded learning that can inform future actions.

All the prototypes are "owned" by external stakeholders. The prototype teams are each made up of different members, some of which are community members, some from partner agencies. RECOVER Catalyst Group members are supporting some of them.

Soloss

It is about holding space for individuals to make meaning from loss, to connect with others who have experienced loss, and for grief to be recognized in the places we live.

Auricle

It is about measuring well-being in a new way and de-colonizing data, by rebalancing data as story, data as learning, and data as relationships.

Old Strathcona Neighbours Project

It is about connecting businesses and neighbours with those living on the margins, and creating community through a variety of means, including jobs.

The Gallery

It is about nurturing healthy reciprocal relationships between members of the downtown business community and street-involved people, and it explores the role of a sidewalk space in doing so.

Expectant

It is about finding a way to connect with, and provide support for those people who don’t have a supportive network of people around them as they make the transition into parenthood.

The Green Violin Way

It is about new ways of engaging potential residents and neighbours in the earliest stages of planning and developing affordable housing.

Socially Active Business Network

It is about building a supportive community of business owners to collectively address issues related to homelessness.

School of Wellbeing

It is about how to work with post secondary institutions - individuals, classrooms, and teams - to apply RECOVER’s wellbeing framework and support other prototypes.
